More California Adventures: A Day at the Beach

Our next adventure was a trip to the beach. Before we left, the girls had been working hard trying to fill their rewards jar with fuzzies so that they could earn the day at the beach, and they filled the jar just in time. Sadly, due to Alexa's extreme aversion to all large bodies of water (and her particular disdain for the ocean), I didn't get any pictures of the girls playing in the water; instead, Babykins and I remained far, far from the shoreline.

It was fun having a sandy little snuggle buddy, but I would have
liked to at least put my feet in the water without her strong little
death grip threatening to sever my arm. Maybe next year...

Lex actually took this picture of herself.
As you can probably guess, it's my favorite picture of the day.

Looking for the best way to curb a beach side
meltdown from an ocean-hating toddler?
Pump her full of m & m's and all your problems will disappear.

Finally got some pics of the older girls on the
way to the pier after a fun day in the sun.

I sure love these cute little crazy-heads.

Sweet Fan hung out with us that day.
The girls are kind of in love with her, with good reason.
She was so great about obliging their every whim,
reading to them, playing with them, sun-screening them...
(No wonder they love her.)

(Not a real dolphin.)

Here is my next-favorite picture of the day.

The view from the pier.

Lex and La, who she likes better than me.

Lex looked a little bit like Orko from Masters of the Universe
in this get-up. I kept expecting her to fumble some spells...

There is at least some resemblance, no?

All my sisters and me.
(Well, not really, but it is one of my sisters
and my other sister's daughter, so, pretty close.)

This is what a day at the beach will do to a six-year-old...

and a four-year-old...

...and a 16-month-old.

I will spare you the details of what it does to a Mommy-year-old...the inadvertent pictures that Savanna took of me in the car on the way home were scarier than scary. Plus you already know what I look like when I'm tireder than tired. (And that'll have to do.)

More adventures to come!
