Bums, Bikes, and Blogging

I feel like I've been a stranger on this lovely blog of mine lately. It's almost as if there is SO much that I want to say that I cannot actually find the words for any of it. Every time I try, I end up just sitting here and staring at the screen, feeling powerless to articulate any reasonable line of thinking whatsoever. Sigh.

Life events over the past couple of months have both drained and filled me in ways that are incredibly difficult to describe. They have drained my physical, emotional, and spiritual energy, and all but erased my ability to think beyond the immediate and pressing needs of a million moments each day. Yet they have simultaneously filled my heart with love and hope, and helped me to understand that a life's work, while mired in stinky bums and crusty high chairs and homework for 4 and no ideas for dinner, is still a significant offering to a Heavenly Father who yearns for my peace and happiness. Especially when it is done with a desire to serve and honor Him, and with a clear knowledge that, like it or not, I am exactly where I am meant to be right now, doing precisely what I am meant to be doing.

Though I am humbled and frustrated daily in what feels like a serial inability to learn and grow as quickly as I would like to, I know that said growth will be for my good, and I pray fervently that, some day, it will do some modicum of good for others as well.

For now, I am going to recommit to sharing more of my feelings and experiences on here, as I know that writing and sharing are a balm to my tired soul in a way that nothing else is. And, in the meantime, you can enjoy the sight of something that makes me so happy that it all but allows me to forget the many things that worry me and stress me out and keep me awake at night:

Spencer on a bike.

  1. Oh, my Katie. I am crying tears of gratitude and joy that I am lucky enough to know you. Let alone be RELATED to you. Thank you. Thank you for who you are. For sharing your inspiring perspectives. For being faithful. And beautiful. And willing to do anything and everything that is required of you. I love you so much I could literally burst. (And that's not just the large lunch talking. I promise.)
