One of my most favorite months of the year. I truly love it so.
And yet.
It is just pure crazy, from the very beginning, to the very end.
And let me tell, you, I have really tried this year. Tried my absolute hardest to get stuff done and out of the way as early as possible so that I could sloooow dooown. Did my shopping, wrapping, and Christmas cards earlier in the month than I ever have before. Planned menus, edited pictures, and decorated with record punctuality. But instead of feeling like I can actually sit down and relax in front of the fireplace with a delicious mug of hot chocolate every single remaining night of the month to watch Home Alone and/or How The Grinch Stole Christmas (I mean, that's not too much to ask, is it?) I still feel like I am rushing to finish all manner of odds and ends, from baking, to shopping, to missed cards, to catching up the blog for the upcoming 2014 Blog Book of Wonder and Excitement.
Of course, it doesn't help that life is busy almost every single day anyway. I can't relax any other month, why should I be able to now?
Here is just a peek into the daily madness that has engulfed our lives for the last 17 days.
{You better believe they have pajamas. But that doesn't mean that they ever go to bed.}
{Crazy Hives. Again.}

{Car window repair}

{Seriously, this boy does not stop...}
{But my goodness, he's wonderful}
{Winter Recital Practice}
{Garage Door Repair}
{Magical Christmas Dessert. Or Breakfast. Or Whatever.}
{The Little People Nativity Meets a Sprawling Metropolis
on Yet Another Lucky Sunday Morning}
Still to come this month: Winter Recital dress rehearsal, Panther Pride Assembly, Winter Recital, The Nutcracker, birthday celebration with my nephew, and our Ward Christmas dinner. Oh, and Christmas. And then probably a trip to Utah.
January. I think I'll put my feet up in January.
Or Arbor Day. Definitely Arbor Day.

Definitely Arbor Day!!!!! :) I have nothing like that December schedule, and I still wanna run away from Christmas. I can't think of a year I have felt less Christmas-y. But seeing those adorable smiling faces and knowing that there's someone out there who takes time to do gingerbread houses with their kids, makes my heart grow to at least only one size too small.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what did the Wise Men think of that ferris wheel??
